Fallout 76 authors are still thinking about introducing crossplay support into the game

Fallout 76 does not yet feature crossplay: players on PC can only interact with other users of the same platform, similar to users of other systems. Todd Howard, head of Bethesda Game Studios, said that the implementation of crossplay is still under discussion.

According to Howard, the main difficulty is related to technical aspects. The game runs on different server clusters for different platforms, which makes synchronization difficult.

Howard also noted that the developers are more important cross-progression - the ability to continue the game for the same character on different platforms, which is currently not supported in Fallout 76, but its implementation is being worked on.

Howard did not specify when exactly can be realized crossplay and cross-progression in Fallout 76. The game will be six years old by 2024, but it is unknown if these features will be available by then.
