The pets in Diablo IV turned out to be minions and made life difficult for Necromancers

With the introduction of pets in Diablo IV after the 1.4.2 update, players who chose the Necromancer class noticed that these new companions were breaking some builds. It turned out that from the point of view of the game engine, the pet is considered a servant.

As a result, the game incorrectly takes into account the real number of minions accompanying necromancers with pets. As users found out, this leads to a damage reduction of several percent for some necromancer builds.

For example, the presence of a pet negatively affects the effect of the Sacrifice symbol, which boosts damage when the character has no active minions. Similarly, pets cancel the effect of the Loner skill, which increases damage in the absence of minions.

Diablo IV developers have confirmed that the performance of pets does not match their design. Until the situation is corrected, fans of necromancers are advised to temporarily abandon pets or use builds that do not depend on the number of minions.
